Wei Xu is Associate Researcher and beamline scientist at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. He has been investigating the effects of nanoscale phase inhomogeneity, nanoparticle scattering, and defect chemistry on atomic and electronic structures in thermoelectrics using X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy and first principles calculations. Wei Xu has coauthored more than 40 papers on the application of XAFS in thermoelectrics, superconductors, electrodes, and other complex materials, which were published on EPL, JACS, AEM, etc. These works accumulated more then 600 citations with a 5 year h-index of 14. He is now working on methodology/instrumentation development including the conceptual design of infrared and X-ray simultaneous beamline for investigating non-equilibrium states of condensed matters, and the R&D of a x-ray ultra-high-energy resolution monochromator to study phonons in condensed matters.
