Katarzyna Dziedzic-Kocurek works as a tenure-track assistant professor at the Department of Medical Physics at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. During her PhD project she was involved in studies of the electronic and structural properties of iron-porphyrin complexes. Her main scientific research area is the applications of different spectroscopies to the characterization of structural and dynamical properties of biological systems. Among the many, her research techniques are Mössbauer spectroscopy and synchrotron based methods like FTIR micro-spectroscopy and XAS. She is also involved on research of iron and iron-oxide nanoparticles as well as their potential medical applications. In addition she is engaged in teaching and popular-scientific activities.
